Yankee Slow Cooker Chili Recipe

October 25th, 2008 by Grandma Jeanne in Chili

Recipes from Grandma

I had this chili last weekend at a friend’s house. It is by far the best chili I have ever tasted. It has green peppers in it, and I HATE green peppers. They just blended with the other tastes, so I didn’t even realize they were there. This chili is not too spicy, but certainly not bland… It was great!

2 pounds lean hamburger
1-1/2 to 2 cups chopped sweet onions
2 large green peppers or 1 cup chopped
2 large garlic cloves, finely cut
1 16-ounce can Mexican stewed tomatoes
1 16-ounce can diced tomatoes
2 16-ounce cans kidney beans, undrained
2 teaspoons salt
2 tablespoons chili powder
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon cumin

Preheat crockpot on top of stove over medium heat.

Spray with Pam.

Add ground beef and brown.

Remove from heat and place crockpot on base.

Add rest of ingredients, and stir to combine.

Cover and simmer at 2-1/2 for 6 to 9 hours.

Keep warm for serving at setting 2.

Makes 8 - 10 servings.
