Recipes from Grandma

I had this cake at a friend’s house the other night, and it was great. She had gotten the recipe out of an old church cookbook. It was very nice and moist… I think when I make it I will add some pecans to the apple mixture.

4 to 5 apples, peeled and sliced
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/4 cup sugar

3 cups flour
2-1/2 cup sugar
1 cup oil
4 eggs
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
7 tablespoons orange juice
2-1/2 teaspoons vanilla

Apple mixture: Mix the first three ingredients (apples, cinnamon, and 1/4 cup of sugar). Set aside.

Mix the rest of the ingredients on low speed.

Pour 1/2 of batter in a greased bundt pan and cover with half of the apple mixture.

Put remaining cake batter into pan, and top with the other half of the apple mixture.

Bake at 350 degrees for 1-1/2 hours. Check after 1 hour.
