Old Cookie Recipe
Posted by Grandma Jeanne on April 22, 2007

I found this old recipe in a small notebook where my grandmother had written some recipes. At the top of the recipe, she wrote the name Ardess. If I remember right, she was the daughter of a great-aunt of mine. Most recipes of this time period do not give instructions on how to make the recipe – they only give the ingredients. I guess that figured that everyone knew how to make cookies!
2 cups brown sugar
1 cup shortening
2 eggs
3 cups flour worked in slowly
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla
Salt
Grease tin.
Take a piece of dough and take a fork and shape.
