Old-Fashioned Eggnog Recipe

Recipes from Grandma

We have been making this eggnog recipe around the Christmas holidays since the late 1960s. We always made it without alcohol so that our kids could also enjoy it. It has definitely become a tradition in our house.

We even left a glass of eggnog and a krumkake for Santa, and he drank every last drop of his eggnog and ate most every crumb of his krumkake!

It is a very simple recipe and so much better than the eggnog you get at the grocery store. I use a blender to make it, but you could also use a mixer.

Beat together:
1 egg, well beaten
2 tablespoons of sugar (Splenda also works great if you are concerned about sugar!)

Beat in:
1 cup chilled milk
1/4 teaspoon vanilla

Serve cold in a glass. Some people like to sprinkle nutmeg on the top.

I seldom make just one glass of eggnog. I usually make as much as my blender will hold and then make several batches of it and store it in the refrigerator. It never lasts very long at our house.
