According to this recipe, this has the “best crust you ever ate.”

1 quart peaches, sliced thin
Sugar to taste
1-1/2 cups flour
2-1/2 cups shortening
1/2 teaspoon salt
4-5 tablespoons water
Melted butter

Mix sliced peaches with sugar. Pour into oblong baking dish.

Crumble together flour, shortening, and salt. Mix with a fork.

Add 4-5 tablespoons water. Gather into a ball.

Roll out dough. Cut into strips.

Criss cross dough over peaches and brush with butter.

Continue layering in criss crosses until strips are used up, brushing each with butter.

Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes or until brown.
