Hand-Knit Scarves – Intro
Posted by Grandma Jeanne on January 11, 2006

When I was a little girl, I was raised by my grandmother. It was just the two of us. She worked all day, and in the summer I was really bored. We didn’t have a TV, and most of my school friends were busy with their activities. I spent a lot of time reading, and I also taught myself to knit. I always liked to make afghans, scarves, and other fairly simple things.
When my children were born, I knit them several baby afghans and knitted sweaters, bonnets, booties, and Christmas stockings. I remember knitting on those tiny needles… I only made sweaters, bonnets, and booties for my own children – never as gifts. They just took too long to make! I did make baby afghans for friends, nieces, nephews, and eventually my grandchildren. I really enjoy making them in different patterns and colors. Very rewarding to make and also to give as gifts. All recipients seemed to love them…
I have now moved on to making beautiful hand-knit scarves. I started out knitting one fun-fur scarf for myself, and that was the beginning of an obsession! I love knitting with the fun fur yarn and making these scarves in so many different colors and sizes. I then discovered Homespun yarn and have knit many scarves with this yarn – sometimes I use only that yarn and other times I combine it with fun fur. Homespun yarn is so very soft and comes in such beautiful colors. I love knitting these scarves so much that I had to find a way to sell them. I couldn’t just keep increasing the size of my inventory…
The scarves are knit in a variety of colors, yarns, and sizes. I made some hand knit scarves in the colors of some of the most popular college teams in Texas – University of Texas, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech. If these aren’t your teams, the colors in these scarves may still work for you. The colors are burnt orange and white, maroon and white, and red and black.
You can just have so many scarves yourself and give so many as gifts. I also sell them at my online antique and collectibles shop named My Vintage Crafts. Take a look!
Here is a preview of some of scarves I have available for sale – they are all on sale for 1/2 off! Stock up for Christmas!
