Peanut Butter Rice Krispies Treats Recipe
Posted by Grandma Jeanne on January 4, 2006

I just received this recipe from a guy friend who made it and brought it to a Christmas party this year. He said his mother had made this recipe ever since he could remember. I like the classic Rice Krispies Treats, but these are even better!
I just made these treats today, and I am having a hard time not eating any more of them. I already ate two – I just hope there will be some left when my son and his family come tonight! I took a picture, and it is at the bottom of this recipe.
3/4 cups sugar
3/4 cups white corn syrup (Karo Light)
1/2 stick butter
3/4 cup Peter Pan Honey Crunch Peanut Butter
4 cups Rice Krispies cereal
Mix sugar, corn syrup, and butter in a pan, and bring to a gentle boil.
Remove from heat.
Add peanut butter and mix.
Gently mix in Rice Krispies.
Divide into cookie-sized portions.
Let set.

This is one of the most addictive office treats I’ve ever had — for a fattening touch, melt chocolate chips and butterscotch chips together and smooth over the top of these before cutting. You won’t regret it – but your thighs might! ;)

I use the peanut butter rice krispies recipe but use coco pebbles… tastes like a crunchy reese’s bar.

I have been looking for this recipe for quite some time. My Dad made peanut butter rice krispy treats when I was a kid. As adults my sister and I wanted desperately to have his recipe to make these for our kids and to pass on, however my dad could never remember the right combinations of ingrediants and the treats just didn’t turn out like the old ones. This recipe is the closest to his I have seen. Thanks for submitting it !

I am so glad you found this recipe. I hope your kids like it as much as you and your sister did.

My recipe is rather similar to this, but a bit sweeter :)
I mix 1 cup of peanut butter with 1 12 oz bag of butterscotch morsels in a large pan. I use creamy peanut butter, so when it is smooth, you know it is all melted (crunchy peanut butter takes a little more guess work). When it is melted, you remove it from the heat, and add 8 cups of rice krispies. This is the “basic” version. You can either put the WHOLE thing into a pan (I usually use a 9X13 glass baking pan) and refrigerate, OR you can cut it in half, put half in the pan, set the other half aside and continue to the next step:
What makes it even sweeter is that I take a bag of semisweet chocolate morsels and melt those with 2 TBSP of butter/margerine, about 1/4 cup of confectioner’s sugar and 1-2 TBSP of water (I vary this part of my recipe everytime, so a little more of this, a little less of that….it all seems to work :)). When this is thoroughly melted together, you spread the chocolate mixture over the first half of mix above, and then top it with the half that you previously set aside.
These are the BEST RICE KRISPIES EVER….I promise. :) Addictive and sweet, so I make it as a rare treat.
