I found this old recipe in a small notebook where my grandmother had written some recipes. At the top of the recipe, she wrote the name Wilna. She was my great aunt. Many of these old recipes did not include baking information - I am sure they figured that everyone knew how to bake cookies!

2 cups brown sugar
1 cup lard
3 eggs
Salt
1-1/2 teaspoons soda dissolved in 1/2 cup boiling water
1 cup ground raisins
1/2 cup ground salted peanuts
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups flour
