Disquise Nicks and Scratches on Furniture

Shoe polish is a great way to hide nicks and scratches on furniture. I tried it for the first time today, and it worked great. I have an entertainment center with a cherry finish, and it had a number of small nicks and scratches. I use a cordovan-color shoe polish to hide the blemishes – they are hardly visible now!

Here is what you do:

  1. To fill a scratch, look for a shoe polish paste that matches the furniture’s finish.
  2. Apply the polish to the scratch or blemish using a cotton swab.
  3. Let the polish dray for 10 to 15 minutes.
  4. Gently buff with a clean, soft cloth

If you don’t like the way it looks, wipe it away with mineral spirits.
