Brown Sugar Cookie Recipe

This old recipe for brown sugar cookies is from a notebook my Grandma Ida (born in 1906) kept of her favorite recipes. This old recipe is probably from the 1930s or 1940s.

2 cups brown sugar
1 cup lard
3 eggs
Pinch of salt
1-1/2 teaspoon soda dissolved in 1/2 cup boiling water
1 cup ground raisins
1/2 cup ground salted peanuts
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups flour

Grease tin – press dough with a fork and dip in sugar

Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes, until lightly browned.
