Rhubarb Cake Recipe

This rhubarb cake recipe is excellent. A friend from Rochester, MN, gave us this recipe.
Cream together:
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
Then add the following:
1 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups flour
1 cup buttermilk (or add a little lemon juice to regular milk)
Fold in 2 cups finely chopped rhubarb
Topping:
Mix the following together, and place on top of the batter before baking:
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon melted butter
1/2 cup nuts
Bake in a greased 9 inch x 13 inch pan at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes. Add a little whipped cream before serving.
